“The Maison Makarem woman is not defined by labels nor trends. Her style is a reflection of no one but herself.”

Born in Lebanon and raised in Nigeria, Layal Makarem grew up rooted in the culture and heritage of her ancestors who are renowned artisans, artists, calligraphers and poets.

A Political Science graduate, Layal decided in the spring of 2015 to realise her vision in the creation of Maison Makarem. “I wanted the Maison Makarem label to focus on the core of luxury fashion - fabric, craft and artistry - and to also create a platform from which I could explore my other passions in interiors and objects.”

In September 2016, Layal launched Maison Makarem at The Ritz London to critical acclaim. Maison Makarem produces several capsule collections seasonally and hosts trunk shows and salons throughout the year.

Maison Makarem is in the process of opening its new studio and creative space in Beirut and developing a demi couture collection with artist and designer collaborations to follow.

Layal currently lives between London, Doha and Beirut with her husband and their three children.
